Motivational Monday

Most people are not fond of Mondays. They used to be the most dreaded day of my week. But now, I love them so much that I have all but one class on Monday/Wednesday's and so I decided that I am going to share a few of my tips and tricks for beating the Monday blues!

1.) Get everything ready the night before. This means, packing your lunch, setting out things for your coffee, getting your coffee maker ready, planning your outfit and setting it out, and making sure you will not be scurrying around last minute for anything.

2.) Wake up early. For Mondays (and now most days) I set my alarm 15 minutes before I actually need to get up. Sometimes, I use that time to snooze or sometimes, I let myself be a little lazier or take a longer shower.

3.) Eat breakfast. It used to be that I would grab an apple or a granola bar as I was rushing out the door on Monday mornings. Now, I make sure that I have time to eat a bowl of cereal or oatmeal before I get ready. I like to multitask and normally eat as I'm doing my makeup. (it takes some skill)

4.) Make a to-do list. On either Sunday night or one of my first things Monday morning, I will sit down with a sheet of paper and will write down all of my goals or "to-do's" for the week. I will then divide them up into days (like which ones I can do which day) and then put them into my planner so I will always have them with me. Another trick that I do during the school year is make a list on my notes app on my iPhone, screenshot it, and then set it as my background so I never have to look for my to-do list.

5.) Have something to look forward to. On Mondays, I like to plan a date night with Trevor, or movies with friends or anything that makes me happy. That way, I don't dread the whole day and it gives me something to look forward to.

6.) Start something new. New week=New you! Not a complete change, but start a new book, or a TV show that day. Again, give yourself something to look forward to. It can also help you look forward to your quiet reading time the rest of the week.

These are just a few of the things that I do on Mondays that help me. Monday's are a great day-- ACT LIKE IT.

That's everything... For now! -- Kaitlyn
